We have plenty of words for the foot soldiers of violence: terrorist, extremist, fanatic. But we lack a precise term for the architects—the leaders who bypass our natural human empathy by rewiring our moral circuitry with dogma.

We need a new word for this specific psychological profile. We need to call them Hieropaths.

Derived from the Greek hieros (sacred) and pathos (suffering or disordered), a Hieropath is not a sociopath. A sociopath has no conscience; a Hieropath has a mutated one. They are clinically incapable of empathy for "the other" because they believe their cruelty is a divine service. They do not see burning villages or starving children; they see a necessary cleansing.

And right now, the Hieropaths are winning—because they are being funded by the powerful.

The Playbook of the Pious Killer

To understand why the world is on fire, we must understand the Hieropath’s seduction. It always follows the same three-step mechanism:

1. Fabricate Victimhood: “They are trying to erase our holy identity.”

2. Dehumanize the Threat: “They are not like us; they are obstacles to God’s will.”

3. Sanctify the Slaughter: “To kill them is not a crime; it is a prayer.”

This is the psychological engine behind the Gaza Genocide. On one side, Hamas leadership has for decades schooled young men to view the murder of civilians—culminating in the slaughter of October 7, 2023—not as terrorism, but as a holy obligation. On the other side, we see members of the Israeli cabinet invoking biblical verses about "Amalek" to justify a military campaign that has obliterated bloodlines.

The math of this "holy" war is brutal. The Hieropath’s logic in Gaza has resulted in over 30,000 dead, including more than 12,000 children. We are witnessing a calculated starvation, where government officials cite security to justify a siege that has pushed an entire population into famine. When a leader uses scripture to justify the starvation of children, they have ceased to be a politician; they have become a Hieropath.

The Global Infection: A Count of the Bodies

This virus of "holy hate" respects no borders, and the death tolls are staggering.

In Myanmar, the violence was not spontaneous; it was a carefully orchestrated spiritual pogrom. The military was blessed by ultra-nationalist Buddhist monks who preached that the Muslim Rohingya were a "thorn" in the nation’s soul that had to be removed. They didn't just displace the Rohingya—they hunted them. Doctors Without Borders estimated that at least 6,700 Rohingya were killed in the first month of violence alone, including 730 children under the age of five who were beaten, shot, or burned alive in their homes. Total estimates suggest up to 24,000 killed and 18,000 women and girls raped as a weapon of war to destroy the bloodline. This was not a security operation; it was a religious cleansing.

In Nigeria, the world ignores a slow-motion genocide that has turned the north of the country into a graveyard. Over the last 14 years, it is estimated that over 50,000 Christians have been butchered by groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP. These are not "clashes" over land; they are systematic slaughters fueled by the belief that eradicating the "infidel" is a ticket to paradise. Worshippers are gunned down inside their churches during Sunday service; priests are burned alive in their rectories; school children are kidnapped to be forcibly converted or sold. It is an explicit campaign to wipe a faith off the map.

In Russia, the invasion of Ukraine has been transformed from a geopolitical land-grab into a "Holy War." Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church has handed Vladimir Putin a spiritual shield, framing the invasion as a metaphysical battle against Western sin and "godlessness." Kirill has gone so far as to tell soldiers that dying in the line of duty "washes away all sins." When the highest religious authority in the land blesses the tanks and absolves the killers before they even fire a shot, the soldier feels no guilt—he feels only righteous purpose.

The Enablers: The Suits Behind the Robes

A Hieropath cannot commit mass murder alone. They need an Enabler—a political power that cynically funds, arms, and protects them to maintain control.

We see this in the Holocaust. Adolf Hitler was the ultimate secular Hieropath, framing the Aryan race as a divine entity and Jews as a cosmic evil. But he was enabled by the silence of the Catholic Church, which signed the Reichskonkordat in 1933, giving the Nazi regime the moral legitimacy it craved. The Church thought it was protecting its interests; in reality, it was enabling the murder of 6 million Jews.

We see it today in the relationship between The West and Israel. The United States and the United Kingdom play the role of the Enabler. By providing billions in unconditional military aid and diplomatic cover—vetoing UN ceasefires while children starve—they provide the means for the Hieropath’s motive. They talk of "human rights" while shipping the bombs that turn Gaza into a graveyard.

This pattern is ancient and bloody. The colonial conquest of the Americas was not a vague historical tragedy; it was a specific operation of Hieropaths authorized by name. It was Pope Alexander VI who issued the Inter Caetera papal bull in 1493, explicitly handing the entire Western Hemisphere to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain and the Portuguese monarchy as their divine property. This 'Doctrine of Discovery' was a theological weapon that justified the genocide of Indigenous peoples—a systematic annihilation that slashed a thriving population of 60 million down to a shattered remnant of 6 million through slaughter, starvation, and disease—all executed under the guise of 'Missionary Work.' It was the Catholic Church providing the moral license for the Spanish and Portuguese Empires to rape, pillage, and enslave an entire hemisphere. They did not just bring bibles; they brought smallpox blankets, steel swords, and the encomienda slave system that worked millions to death in gold and silver mines. They burned libraries, shattered cultures, and butchered those who refused to convert, all while claiming they were saving 'heathen' souls.

Breaking the Spell: You Are Being Duped

The tragedy is that the foot soldiers—the ones planting the bombs in Nigeria or pulling the triggers in Gaza—often believe they are the good guys. They are victims of a spiritual con artist.

We cannot break free until we realize we are being duped. The Hieropath is not saving your soul; he is selling it to keep himself in power. The Enabler is not protecting your nation; he is using your faith to secure his geopolitical influence.

The bodies are piling up. They are the collateral damage of a lie. It is time we stopped calling this "politics" or "religion." It is a pathology. And until we name it, count its cost, and shame its sponsors, the killing will not stop.
