U.S. District Judge Josephine Staton has dismissed rapper RBX's lawsuit against Spotify with prejudice, Bloomberg Law and Music Business Worldwide reported. The suit, filed by Eric Dwayne Collins, claimed Spotify let bot accounts inflate Drake's streams and cut other artists' royalties.

What the judge decided

In the October 23 order, Staton found Spotify owed Collins no special duty to stop third party bots and that he had not alleged a valid fraud or unfair competition claim. She ruled that another amendment would be futile.

What the ruling does not settle

The court did not decide whether the claims about Drake's streams were accurate. Drake was never a defendant. Collins's lawyer told Rolling Stone an appeal is likely.
